As my playing career winds down (I'll never stop), I'm going back through old recordings, looking for good guitar tones to pass on to those developing their craft.

This is my 15-year-old take on an obscure ZZ Top tune. Engineering and fake drums are archaic, but there is still a nice lope in the groove...kinda like a '63 Galaxie 500 Factory Lightweight.

Recorded on a '72 Tele Thinline with stock Seth Lover Humbuckers, through a Fender Super
Champ. Such a cool hybrid tone in those pickups...the brightness of Fender and fatness of Gibson style split humbuckers. I stayed away from any crunch overdrive in order to bring out the clarity of the dense wood and extra pickup windings.

The arrangement is no musical kin to the original, I just kept the great lyrics. A salute to all the old-timers out there who have been driving blind for decades with no issues, never harming a soul.
